Bigger than a BMX

Monday, February 1st, 2010

FBM has for some time now been making some of the most well respected and well thought out BMX frames and products under the sun , 2 Years ago they embarked on a plan to start combining there talent in BMX production with a interest in Fixed gear frames  to build a fixed gear foundation of frame and forks as a form of transport instead of motor vehicles. The result is the Sword Frame and Forks, Handmade in the same machine shop as there popular BMX frames and ready to shred the streets sans brakes. Most people seem to either love or hate fixies but no matter what you think of them you cant deny that a stripped down fixed gear is not that far removed from most current brakeless BMX riders set ups.Check the FBMFIXED site for more info on these badboys and if you are in the Brisbane area check out the alleycat race that Gear Shop is putting on to celebrate there first birthday!

To borrow a phrase keep the rubber side down and injuries to a minimum!

Terrible One and good mates...

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Sorry for the lack of updates Ryan Lloyd and i have just got back in from the Melbourne and Canberra Trip to film some upcoming stuff for United but more about that in the next few days when the batteries are juiced and the USB cable is not hiding! I have been out of action with some back pain from a silly crash at the Sanction Jam in Wangaratta last weekend. Luke Mcblane the east coast trail boffin was nice enough to send over some pics of how there spot is shaping up for the upcoming east coast trail season. Want to know how they ride? If you dont know Luke or Simo chances are you will never know! These boys work there arses of at normal jobs 9 -5 and after work and on the weekends they build there arses off so that when the weather gets cooler they will share the best feeling in the world in my humble opinion- the sounds of your cassette hub buzzing doing a nosedive at the trails.Get on! Thanks for the pics Luke and cant wait to get over there with you later in the year! Yeew!

Could be the USA or could be Aus, either way these dudes were born to ride trails. Luke and Simo.

Gotta love the Red Kelso Simo- These tinnies cold yet? Terrible One is coming for real this time....

Peace out and remember that no one needs to be a redneck on Australia Day.

Livewire Jam in Manudurah.

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

FBMs own Kie Ashworth and Shaun Jarvis from Freestyle Now have organized The Livewire Jam for a few years now since the tragic passing of Kies good mate and riding bro Chadd Walton. We are honoured to be able to help out with some prizes from Animal and FBM for such a good cause. if you are in Perth or nearby Mandurah this saturday the 19th of December do yourself a favour and get on down there for some good times and to remember the good people in our lives who sometimes pass away.

The Mandurah scene is a tight one and which proves you dont to have the most banging park to help your scene grow. This is where Kie Ashworth lives and he now rides for Animal and FBM.Get out there and ride what you got, if you dont have anything to ride maybe you are not looking hard enough. We also helped out with some FBM product for the Anchor/Moustche jam that went down at Riverslide this past weekend in Smelbs. Heres what Greg the organizer had to say about how the day went down!

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine went swimmingly. Big weekend for BMX. Had the Jam on Friday which went really well considering the rescheduled date. At least 80 riders bombing around the park, and all the stuff we built worked perfectly! Stoked. The prizes went down a treat! Moustaches were stuck, drawn or groomed by heaps of people on the day. Lots of Grins and general fun being had, which is was the main goal. All the feedback was sick, so i think Riverslide want to make it an annual thing. Glad that more BMX events are starting to happen with those guys. Finals of the North western BMX series were on Sunday and while I was MCing i saw a lot of the T-shirts given out on the day being repped. Good stuff.
Some photos are up on Focal point and Polack was there all evening, so there will be some more quality pics to come. Also, we'll be uploading some pics taken by locals onto the Riverslide site too.
Once again thanks for all the support,
Give a shout out to Kane and Hayden from me too.
Speak soon.
Greg

 Sounds good to me!

Good times on little kids bikes..

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Leigh Giason is a great friend of mine and a valuable part of our team of riders here in Australia. Leigh is a very busy boy in between serving the fashionable drunks of inner city Melbourne at the infamous Bar Open, Riding for Terrible One and Bicycle Union and also running The Anchor his BMX boutique in surburban Melbourne. Leigh spent the weekend with me over here in Adelaide and in between the munching of gourmet Vegie pizzas and swimming at the beach we got some riding in.

Leigh Giason. Great rider, Even better friend. Post Ride chill in close to 40 degree heat 8.30 AM Saturday morning.

Man size icepick on a man size vert quarter. we are getting behind Leigh and the Anchor with some FBM product for this upcoming jam at the Riverslide park in Smelbs. Anything involving Moustaches is good with me. Dont take your self to serious for the day and head down there for some guaranteed laughs.

Stay Cool...

There will be blood...

Monday, October 19th, 2009

A great flick to check out if you get some time is There Will Be Blood .  This movie is based on Upton Sinclairs novel Oil and is an absolute belter. Upton Sinclair also penned the famous novel The Jungle. Do your self a favour and pick both of these up today!

It paints a pretty nasty picture of corruption in the  early American Oil industry and also Greed and how badly it can effect people.

Daniel Day Lewis plays over zealous Oil magnate Daniel Plainview.Scary Stuff right here.  This is a an absolute must see!

8 Years old and what was around then...

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Ever wonder what the 4 black bars you might see on old hardcore records and even on Henry Rollins arm in this picture meant? Peep some classic Black Flag footage here and here and see if you can work it out. i was only 8 years old when Rollins was belting out Rise Above and this still gets my blood flowing every time i hear this song.Classic stuff.
